Should I sneak my dog in?

I have a 9 year old chihuahua Gizmo. We found a house to rent and everything is perfect except one thing...no pets...I don't know what I was thinking I was going to do or maybe I just thought he'd be easier to re-home but now I'm extremely sad that I have to give him away. I'm trying to convince my husband that I want to keep him and we can sneak him in the house. They have to give you at least 24 hours notice before the property manager would visit so we could hide all his stuff and be gone for the day or whatever. Anyway he's not liking it and doesn't want to risk breaking lease and getting evicted...what do you think I should do?
